New “Knowing God” Devotional Posted – God is Gracious

A few sermons ago Pastor Don asked me during the sermon if I had written a “God is” devotional on God’s  graciousness.  I said, “No! It is the next one.”  So here it is:  Devotional 38: God is Gracious.  Hope you get a blessing.

Pastor Don’s New Sermon Series: Lessons in the Life of David!

Pastor Don gave a wonderful review of his preaching ministry over the past few years which turned out to be a history lesson on Israel up to the time of King David.  Evidently it is God’s timing for our congregation to  learn some lessons from the Life of David!  After the message Pastor Don told me. “I kept thinking of other messages to bring but the Lord kept me coming back to David.”

It certainly seems more than a coincidence that last week’s message by Don’s son Dan was from the book of Ruth which ends with the lineage of David:

Ruth 4:14-22,  Then the women said to Naomi, “Blessed be the LORD, who has not left you this day without a redeemer, and may his name be renowned in Israel!  He shall be to you a restorer of life and a nourisher of your old age, for your daughter-in-law who loves you, who is more to you than seven sons, has given birth to him.”  Then Naomi took the child and laid him on her lap and became his nurse.  And the women of the neighborhood gave him a name, saying, “A son has been born to Naomi.” They named him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David.   Now these are the generations of Perez: Perez fathered Hezron,   Hezron fathered Ram, Ram fathered Amminadab,  Amminadab fathered Nahshon, Nahshon fathered Salmon,  Salmon fathered Boaz, Boaz fathered Obed,
Obed fathered Jesse, and Jesse fathered David.

Today’s message challenged us from God’s words to Samuel about why He was choosing David to be the next King of Israel.  This passage gives us applicable instruction on how we are to make decisions as well.   Click on the links below to give this message a listen:

New “Knowing God” Devotional: God is Not Partial!

Have you ever thought about the impartiality of God and its practical implications in your day-to-day life?   This study was a challenge to me as I hope it will be to you as well:

Devotional 37: God is Not Partial

With prayer,  Pastor Mark

Special Speaker today!

We were blessed to meet and hear Pastor Don’s son, Missionary Dan Julian, open the Scriptures to us .

Dan made clear the point of the message God gave him for us from the book of Ruth–“God uses our acts of mercy to accomplish His redemptive mission!”

He demonstrated what true mercy does as illustrated in the lives of Naomi, Ruth and Boaz:

1.  Mercy moves in – it gets involved in the lives of others

2.  Mercy superabounds need

3.  Mercy pursues not its own interests

4.  Mercy pursues redemption

Give this message a listen to see how he gets this from the book of Ruth!  It truly is there in the story.  It will bless you and challenge you to be a person of mercy right in your community for God’s redemptive purposes!

Pastor Don’s New Year’s Message!

To hear all of this message you needed to be here!  Our sound man came out after the message like a puppy dog who thought he was in trouble.  He said, “I was so caught up in the message, I forgot to press the recording button until the message was almost over.”  I said, “That OK, we trust God in these matters.”

Even the last 10 minutes will be a blessing to you!
